At first, I suggest students come and see me for an informal meeting to discuss their aims and goals.  After a two-week trial period, weekly lessons start for those who want them.  Students are encouraged to work at a steady pace, and not rush.  This tends to produce better results in the long term.  I also think it is a good idea if students can tell me the type or style of music they wish to play.  Although a few basic techniques and music reading need to be covered first, there are plenty of styles to choose when playing repertoire.

To make the best use of the time available, my students have lessons in my home.  This means they get the chance to play a good quality piano.  It is possible to arrange lessons in the student’s home, but the minimum is for one hour, plus travel time which is charged at the same teaching rate per hour.
